Chinatown

Sydney's Chinatown is a vibrant fusion of Asian culture and tradition. The distinct Oriental architecture in particular the twin paifangs at each end showcases the best of Chinese design. A highlight of Chinatown is the sculpture crafted out of a dead tree trunk nicknamed Golden Water Mouth at the eastern entrance which the Chinese believes will usher in good fortune and prosperity. Chinatown is a leisurely 15 minute walk from Central Station.

Haymarket

Home to Sydney’s Chinatown, Haymarket truly is a shopping paradise. Opened daily from 10am - 7pm, Market City is a haven for fashion addicts and food lovers with over 100 retail and food outlets. For those looking for a bargain, the 32 factory fashion outlets featuring famous labels including Esprit, Giordano, Nautica and Guess is more than pleasing. One of Sydney’s original markets, Paddy’s Market can also be found at Haymarket. Opened from Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm, Paddy’s Market offers just about everything a keen bargain hunter could want from clothes, shoes, and souvenirs to fresh produce. The famed Spanish Quarter is also located in Haymarket and is the idea place for one to sip on sangria and feast on tapas whilst taking in some traditional Flamenco dancing. Haymarket is only a 5 minute walk from Central or Townhall Train Station.

The Rocks

Those seeking to rediscover the past and reconnect with Sydney’s heritage should look no further than The Rocks. Take a stroll through The Rocks and it will feel like you are walking through time due to the historic attractions like the Sydney Observatory, Cadman’s College, Garrison Church and Dawes Point Battery. Those looking for gifts and souvenirs can find it at the Rocks Market held every weekend at the northern end of George Street which has over 150 stalls selling quality crafts, home wares and jewellery. As the Sydney Visitor Centre is conveniently located in The Rocks, visitors can obtain a comprehensive range of information not just about The Rocks but also Sydney itself. The Rocks is just a ten minute stroll from Sydney CBD and just around the corner from Circular Quay.

Leichardt

Fondly known as the Little Italy of Sydney, the Italian Forum is a mixture of grit and romance offering visitors a unique un mondo Italiano experience with its combination of boutiques, shops, restaurants and cafes set in a Tuscany manner. The retails outlets are opened until 7pm Monday to Wednesday, 9pm on Thursday to Saturday and 8pm on Sundays. Leichardt is approximately 3 km with a traveling time of approximately 10 minutes from Garden-Lodge.

Sydney Olympic Park

The Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush Bay which hosted the 2000 Summer Olympics & Paralympics is a good place for leisure as well as business. Things to do at the 640 hectare site include touring Telstra Stadium, go for a dip in the Sydney International Aquatic Centre, enjoy a picnic or even take in a multicultural festival. Sports fans can also check out their Aussie sporting heroes in the hall of fame. More detailed information can be obtained from the Homebush Bay Information Centre. Sydney Olympic Park is approximately 15 km with a traveling time of approximately 30 minutes from Garden-Lodge.

Luna Park

Those looking for a bit of nostalgia and adventure can find it at Luna Park; a theme park filled with 1930s amusements. Key rides include Coney Island, the Wild Mouse, Dodgem Cars, Tumblebug, Rotor, Ferris Wheel, Space Shuttle and Tango. Luna Park is approximately 15 km with a traveling time of approximately 30 minutes from Garden-Lodge.
